Travel is presented as an escape from real life, and it certainly can be that, though perhaps not always in the way you might have thought.
The main benefit of travel is that it stresses you — exposes you to new ideas and cultures, new flavors and sounds, new ways of life and looking at the world. This can be uncomfortable, and it’s that discomfort that’s the main benefit of travel.
