Pollination by animals, such as bees, butterflies, other insects and birds, is essential to many agricultural crops such as melons, squash, apples, berries, almonds, carrots, avocados, and more. About 30% of American crops rely on pollination by insects, especially bees. Join Amanda Pankau from the Monticello Farmers’ Market as she discusses how her community and area organizations partnered to develop a week-long flurry of activity commemorating Illinois Pollinator Week. This celebration included a slate of activities and events at different locations throughout Monticello that connected the community and raised awareness about pollinators.
