Maria Theresa Llamedo is a famous Filipina singer. One of the most enduring singers of the country, she was dubbed as Asia’s Diva. She is widely accepted by her fans as ”Dulce”. Recorded almost 25 theme songs from famous personalities, she garnered the title Theme Song Queen.
Dulce is native from Cebu City. She knew that she was born to sing. At the age of two, she already impressed people with her singing ability. She joined several amateur singing contests in Cebu at the age of 11. Her first big break came when she performed in the second Metropop Festival at the age of 14. She sang one of the compositions of the late George Canseco.
Eventually, she landed in the busy streets of Manila and into recording studios. With her powerful voice, she was bankable for singing the theme songs in movies. On 1978, she recorded her “Dulce Amor Incorporated” which was used in the movie of Lorna Tolentino. The song became a hit and memorable thus adapting the moniker as “Dulce”.
