This is a pretty rare track from two of Australia’s finest singer/songwriters who are perhaps best known as being integral members of the Little River Band. Birtles had been in the significant pop band Zoot, and he and Goble were members of a later group called Mississippi before forming LRB. After finding international success after their ‘It’s a long way there’ LP, some side projects ensued while the band was still enjoying its chart whirl around the world. Beeb and Graham released this debut song in early 1978 and it reached #66 on our charts, it was followed the next year by the Top 10 smash ‘I’m coming home’.
Little River Band would undergo some major personnel shifts in the coming decades and an acrimonious contest as to who owned the rights to the name of the band. Years on and these two members along with original lead singer Glenn Shorrock continue to record and tour under the moniker Birtles Shorrock Goble!
Enjoy this slice of Aussie middle of the road pop. (It came to me via the EMI compilation Explosive Hits 1978)
