Christmas Crackers

Cookies are pretty much the best part of Christmas, right? Whether you’re making them for a party, Santa, or just a cozy night in by the fireplace, there’s always a reason to whip up a batch of cookies during the holidays. But, sometimes I crave salty treats, especially near the end of the holiday. What I love most about these Christmas Crackers is that they are both sweet AND salty (with a little bit of a crunch).

Saltine Crackers Dipped in Chocolate

You can still treat your sweet tooth with these festive crackers, thanks to the chocolate dip. They make adorable handmade gifts! Wrap them in small clear cellophane bags and seal them shut with pretty holiday bows. People will love that these are a lighter little snack than traditional Christmas cookies or all of the other baked goods circling around.

Saltine Crackers Dipped in Chocolate

Begin by melting chocolate. There are a variety of ways this can be done. I LOVE using three things for melting chocolate: CandiQuik, Ghirardelli melting wafers, or small Dove chocolates (the little individually wrapped kind). They all melt extremely easily in the microwave and the chocolate can be reheated many times. You can find both the CandiQuik and Ghiradelli melting wavers in the baking aisle near the coco powder and other cocoa bars. I find melting candy melts are harder to work with because it burns and dries faster. Or, you can melt chocolate in a double boiler the old fashioned way too!

Simply prepare your working space with some wax paper for the chocolate to harden on. You then want to add the holly sprinkles before the chocolate melts. I found that dipping 3 or 4 crackers in chocolate at a time before adding the sprinkles worked best. But, get creative! Add extra sprinkles! Add red, green, or white chocolate drizzle. Have so much fun with this part:) They only take a few minutes to dry.
