Dr. John Butler (National Institute of Standards and Technology, USA)


Dr. John Butler is working for the “National Institute for Standards and Technology” (NIST) in the United States. The mission of NIST is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life.
John Butler was invited as external speaker to the EUROFORGEN-NoE project’s dissemination conference which took place in Venice, 22-23 June 2016. In the interview he talks about the challenges which come along with the fast movement and developments in the field of forensic genetic research.
EUROFORGEN-NoE is an European funded FP7 project of which the main objective was to create a “European Virtual Centre of Forensic Genetic Research”. EUROFOREN-NoE stands for “European Forensic Genetics Network of Excellence”.
